Dental insurance that actually gets used

Standalone dental plans covering cleanings, X-rays, fillings, and major work — often starting at under $30 a month, with no medical underwriting and year-round enrollment.

The Math

Why dental coverage pays for itself

Two cleanings, an exam, and X-rays run $300–$450 out of pocket in Southwest Florida. A typical dental plan costs less than that for the entire year — before it pays a dollar toward fillings or crowns. If you see a dentist even once a year, the math usually works.

  • Preventive care covered from day one on most plans
  • PPO options that let you keep your current dentist
  • No medical questions — enrollment is guaranteed
  • Bundle with vision for a few dollars more per month

What to watch for

Not all dental plans are equal. The details that matter: the annual maximum, the major-work waiting period, whether your dentist is in-network, and whether the plan uses a fee schedule that leaves you with surprise balances. We compare these line by line so there are no surprises at the front desk.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does dental insurance typically cover?

Most plans follow a 100-80-50 structure: preventive care (cleanings, exams, X-rays) covered at or near 100%, basic work (fillings, extractions) around 80%, and major work (crowns, root canals, dentures) around 50% after a waiting period. Annual maximums typically run $1,000–$2,000.

Are there waiting periods?

Usually for major work — commonly 6 to 12 months — while preventive care is covered immediately. Some plans waive waiting periods if you had prior dental coverage. If you know you need a crown soon, tell us up front and we'll steer you to plans with the shortest waits.

Can I keep my dentist?

PPO dental plans let you see any dentist, with better pricing in-network. HMO-style plans cost less but restrict you to a network. We check your current dentist against plan networks before recommending anything — the same way we do for medical plans.
